DUI, Shoplifting, Cannabis Possession: Forest Park Police Blotter

Forest Park police reports, Aug. 13- Aug. 19.

SATURDAY, AUG. 18

DUI on Interstate 290

Ruben Munoz, 31, of Northlake, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol when a squad car stopped his vehicle on I-290 west of Harlem Avenue, police said. An officer on patrol saw a car without working taillights and attempted to pull him over on Harlem Avenue and Harrison Street. Police said the car continued on to the westbound ramp of I-290, where he ignored police warnings to pull over. Munoz's 1998 Volvo then drove across three lanes of  traffic, cutting off other cars and almost causing an accident, police said. After failing field sobriety tests, Munoz was given a Breathalyzer test, which registered a blood alcohol level of nearly twice the legal limit, police said.

Village ordinance violation

Kelly C. Gayden, 25, of Bolingbrook, was given a local ordinance ticket for possession of one gram of cannabis after police said she was smoking marijuana in the closed parking lot of the Proviso Math and Science Academy, 8601 W. Roosevelt Rd.

Unauthorized use of handicapped placard

Roderick Pickett, 45, of Chicago, was charged with the unauthorized use of a handicapped placard and possession of marijuana after an officer questioned him in the parking lot at Ultra Foods, 7520 Roosevelt Rd., police said.

Retail theft

Abena B. Evans, 78, of Chicago was charged with retail theft after he was found on an eastbound Green Line train at Harlem and South Boulevard with a bag filled with $448.35 of make-up and body care items from CVS Pharmacy, 7216 Circle Ave., police said. Police said an employee at the store decided to observe Evans via security camera and saw him put the items into a bag. The employee called police and by that time Evans had walked out of the store toward the CTA Green Line station in the 00 block of south Harlem Avenue. He later was positively identified by the employee, police said.

TUESDAY, AUG. 14

Retail theft

Angelina Villanueva, 41, of Cicero, was charged with retail theft after trying to leave Wal-Mart, 1300 Des Plaines Ave., with items from the health and beauty department valued at $71.91, police said.

MONDAY, AUG. 13

Traffic arrest

Francisco Mireles, 24, of Maywood, was charged with driving without a license and speeding after a police officer clocked his Dodge Charger going 45 miles an hour over the legal speed limit in the 7600 block of Roosevelt Road, police said.
