Bike Thefts, Garage Burglaries Fill Police Blotter

THURSDAY, JUNE 20
Garage Burglary
A garage in the 800 block of Thomas was entered through an unlocked door, and items stolen included a $140 Garmin GPS unit and a $100 softball mitt.

Bike Stolen
A man parked his bike at a bicycle rack near Old School Tavern, and it was stolen between 10:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. The bike is a 1977 black Fuji Del Ray 23-inch men’s 21-speed road bike. It’s valued at $500.

TUESDAY, JUNE 18
Car Burglarized
Police responded to a garage alarm in the 600 block of Hannah, and found a bicycle and three GPS units next to it. While canvassing the area, police saw another garage with an open door, and the homeowner identified two of the GPS units that were missing from his car.
Garage Burglaries
Someone entered an unlocked garage in the 1000 block of Circle, but nothing was reported missing from the cars parked inside. Another unlocked garage was entered in the 1000 block of Marengo, where two GPS units were stolen, each valued at $150. Miscellaneous CDs were also taken.
Someone also entered a garage in the 1000 block of Hannah after removing a brick that held the gate shut. The offender stole a coal-colored Schwinn Hybrid Voyager 2 bike, valued at $480, and a Deck rechargeable drill valued at $200.
A basement common area in the 7300 block of Adams was also broken into on June 18, and a Cannondale bike valued at $2,000 was stolen. It was neon orange with the writing ‘“Beast of the East” on it, and also had oversized front forks and chrome handlebars.
Warrant Arrest
Donald L. Grant, 47, of Forest Park, was booked on an active warrant for his arrest in DuPage County after Forest Park police ran his plates.Police Blotter information is provided by local law enforcement agencies.
