Possession of a Controlled Substance

Police found about 6.3 grams of an off-white powder suspected to be heroin during a traffic stop in the 8400 block of Roosevelt Road around 8:30 p.m.

Police stopped Damien Montez, 30, of Romeoville for not wearing a seatbelt and arrested him on a warrant out of DuPage County for assault. His passenger, Lana Hargrove, 32, of Downers Grove was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.  

During the stop, police said they saw a needle in the front seat and found seven blue and purple heat-sealed bags containing a foil packet with an off-white powder, and several used needles and empty foil packets.  

Hargrove told police she is addicted to heroin and had just purchased the drug from a man in Berwyn. The drug was sent for lab testing.

Drug Paraphernalia

Police issued a local ordinance citation to Kevin Keating, 29, of Woodridge for possession of drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop near the intersection of Brown and Dixon around 6 p.m. Keating, who was stopped for not wearing a seatbelt, told police he had a bowl underneath the floor mats. He was issued one citation. His court date is pending, police said.
