Convicted Armed Robber Stuffs DVD Player in Pants: Police Blotter

Also, police track down scrap metal thieves. Forest Park police reports, Feb. 26.

Felony Theft at Walmart

Thomas W. White, 43, and Annie M. White, 59, both of Chicago, were charged with retail theft after police were called to Walmart, 1300 Desplaines Ave. in Forest Park.

Store security said Thomas White took a DVD player from its case and put it in his pants. Security also said he took a TV antenna valued at $77 and hid it in his coat pocket. Security said Annie White put various items, including bras, DVDs, boots and underwear and put them in a shopping bag. The items were valued at $68.69.

They joined another person who paid for other items at the register and then tried to leave without paying for the items they concealed, police said. 

Both people had previous convictions: Thomas White was convicted of armed robbery in 1992, and Annie White was convicted on a retail theft charge in 2012. Because of this, the retail theft charges were upgrades to felonies.

Weed Possession Warrant

Richard A. Burgess, 42, of Arkansas, was stopped by police near Garfield and Harlem for driving with expired registration. Police discovered he had an active warrant for his arrest from a cannabis possession charge in DuPage County. 

Police Track Scrap Metal Thieves

Segfredo Noguez, 34, and Jose L. Garcia, 21, both of Cicero, were charged with theft. Police received a call from Voco Tool Manufacturing, 1441 Circle Ave., in reference to two men taking scrap metal from a dumpster behind the business. Police matched the description of the car and found $75 in scrap metal in the rear of the truck. Both men were arrested and given April 3 court dates. 

Walmart Theft

Eric R. Alvarez-Mejia, 24, and Maria Santana, 18, both of Aurora, were charged with retail theft after police were called to Walmart, 1300 Desplaines Ave. in Forest Park. Store security said Alvarez-Mejia took $10.81 in transmission fluid and Santana took $71.29 in health and beauty products.
