Draconid Meteor Shower to Peak After Sunset Tonight, Tomorrow

Meteor shower to peak just after sunset Oct. 7, 8, EarthSky.org reports.

The Draconid meteor shower is expected to peak after sunset Monday, Oct. 7 and Tuesday, Oct. 8. The shower comes from the mouth of the northern constellation Draco the Dragon and will be visible from Earth in the Northern Hemisphere, according to EarthSky.org

The Draconid shower had an "unusually rich peak" in 2011, but meteor rates are expected to be normal this year, with just a few meteors per hour, according to EarthSky

For your best chance of catching the meteor shower, EarthSky recommends finding a dark, open sky away from artificial lights, then sitting down with your feet pointing north or northwest. Then look up, and enjoy the show.
