Felony Retail Theft, DUI, Business Break-ins: Police Blotter

Forest Park police reports, May 20

MONDAY, MAY 20

Felony Retail Theft

Police charged Eric McCord of Maywood with felony retail theft after he allegedly stole 10 Degree deodorants and a Dove product from Walgreen's on Roosevelt Road around 2:30 p.m. A store employee reported the burglary after seeing McCord leave the store with a bag full of merchandise. The Walgreen's security camera also showed McCord taking several items off the shelves, police said. McCord, who is on parole for retail theft, was also charged with trespassing after he returned to the store against police orders to stay away, police said. He was given a May 23 bond hearing. 

DUI

Police charged Kyle Truong, 40, of Kankakee with driving under the influnce of alcohol. Police stopped him about 3 a.m. in the 7200 block of Franklin Street for driving 51 mph in a 30 mph zone. He told police he had had two beers and was taken into custody after failing field sobriety tests. Police said his blood alcohol content was .139. He was cited with driving under the influence of alcohol above the .08 limit, driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding. He is scheduled to appear in court July 16.

Handicapped Parking Violation 

Police issued a local ordinance citation to Vilvunno Linzy, 40, of Maywood for a handicapped-parking violation at CVS, 7216 Circle Ave. in Forest Park. Linzy told police the handicapped placard in his car belonged to his father and that he thought the placard could be used without his father. Police took the handicapped placard, issued Linzy the citation and gave him a July 3 court date. 

Driving While License Revoked

Police charged Chris Buchanan, 47, of Broadview with driving while license revoked, operating an uninsured vehicle and violating a traffic code. He drove a blue Geo Prizm near the intersection of Maple Avenue and Roosevelt Road in Berwyn around 9:20 a.m. when police stopped him. He was taken into custody and given a June 25 court date.

Break-in, Theft

Someone broke into a business in the 7700 block of Madison Street between 9:30 p.m. May 19 and about 2 p.m. May 20 and stole $90 from the register. 

Break-in Attempt

Someone removed the lock at a store in the 7400 block of Madison Street, setting off the alarm around 4 a.m. Police said nothing inside the store appeared to have been disturbed. 

Warrant: Suspended License

Police arrested Willie Taylor, 33, of Forest Park on a warrant for driving on a suspended license in Orland Park. 

Theft at Cemetery

Someone stole a purse containing a driver’s license, social security card, credit cards, a cell phone and $100 cash from a Chevy Malibu parked at the Woodlawn Cemetery around 2:30 p.m.
