Proviso Township Residents Can Get Good Discounts on Meds

Township program will cover uninsured and under-insured, even their pets.

Who doesn't want to trim the cost of their prescription medicine?

And all it takes is just getting a single card.

The new program will allow the underinsured and uninsured of Proviso Township. which includes Forest Park, the chance to save up to as much as 75 percent on the retail cost of a single medication, according to information supplied by township officials.

Individual and family coverage will be eligible in this joint effort by the Township and the Coast2CoastRX Card program.

All residents have to do is go to the website, then hit "Click Here for your Free Card " in the upper right-hand corner, select the name of your township (in this case Proviso) and print it out.

"There's nothing else to do," Village Administrator Timothy Gillian, told commissioners at Monday's meeting. "It will help seniors fill the donut hole in Medicare. And any one can get a discount at any pharmacy." Gillian also serves as a township trustee.

Even most prescriptions for pets will be eligible.

There are no limits on usage or age.

Forest Park pharmacies accepting the card are:

  • CVS Pharmacy, 7216 Circle Ave.
  • Wal-Mart Pharmacy, 1300 Des Plaines Ave.
  • Walgreens, 7200 W. Roosevelt Rd.

The card cannot be used in conjunction with insurance, Gillian said.
