Take some time strolling for stuff in the 's parking lot at the community-wide garage sale and flea market Saturday, Sept. 15. The event will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at 7501 W. Harrison St. It's free.
Sip, Spend and Schmooze
Madison Street wil be the site the afternoon of Sept. 15 of the progressive Wine Walk sponsored by the Forest Park Chamber of Commerce & Development. From 1 to 5 p.m., partakers can go wine-tasting with a variety of distributors and nosh on appetizers from local restaurants at each stop. Specialty shops, boutiques, restaurants and watering holes will offer sales and special offers. Tickets are $35. Registration forms are available at the Chamber, 7331 W. An important part of Forest Park history will be observing its 100th anniversary with a community celebration on Saturday, Sept. 15. Woodlawn Memorial Park, 7750 Cermak Rd., will serve up lunch and speeches by noted people around the area starting at 11 a.m. The grounds, which interred victims of the Showmen's Rest, will be open as well. Celebrate Fall
Oak Park will be celebrating fall this weekend with Oaktoberfest in Downtown Oak Park. Loads of music, activities for youngsters, food from local restaurants, specialty microbrews - and the best of all a Kids' Root Beer Garden. The event takes place from 4 to 10 p.m. Friday and noon to 5 p.m. Saturday on Marion Street between Lake Street and North Boulevard and on North Boulevard between Marion Street and Forest Avenue.
