Harlem Art Galleries to Close After 37 Years in Business
Framing store and gallery to close its doors at 7239 Roosevelt Rd.

Harlem Art Galleries, 7239 Roosevelt Rd. in Forest Park, will close after 37 years in business, the Forest Park Review reported Tuesday.
The business has been open in its Forest Park location since 2001, according to the Review, offering framing services in addition to its gallery showcasing work from local artists.
Harlem Art Galleries owner Chris Germond, who previously operated the store in Chicago and Oak Park, told the Journal that sales and customers have declined "at an alarming rate" since 2003. She said the framing business has changed, and that people tend to buy pictures that are already framed, or framed with plastic molding.
