Liquor Store Employee Caught Stealing on Camera

SATURDAY, AUGUST 31
2 Charged With Retail Theft at Walmart
Police charged Deena Gallegos, 35, of Joliet, and Peggy Sue Gallegos, 33, of Coal City, with retail theft about 2:15 p.m. at Walmart, 1300 Des Plaines Ave.A Walmart employee told police they saw Peggy Sue Gallegos take about $31 in hygiene items and Deena Gallegos take about $15 in hygiene items. Deena Gallegos was also charged on warrants out of Will and Grundy counties for driving on a suspended license. Deena Gallegos was processed and held on bond. Peggy Sue Gallegos was released from the scene.
Retail Theft at Kmart
Police charged Robin Stephens, 56, of Ottawa, with retail theft about 3:50 p.m. at Kmart, 7630 Roosevelt Rd. Police said Stephens stole about $80 in merchandise. He was given an Oct. 2 court date and released.Public Intoxication
Police charged Shane Watson, 31, of Maywood, with disorderly conduct about 6:40 p.m. at Musgy's Tavern, 7640 Madison St. Police said Watson stumbled out of the bar, then stood swaying back and forth in the middle of the street. He was given an Oct. 2 court date for a public intoxication charge.Suspended License
Police charged Byron Holcomb, 34, of Chicago, with driving on a suspended license during a traffic stop about 12:40 a.m. near the intersection of Harlem and Lexington.Driving Without a License
Police charged Dantrice Sanford, 21, of Chicago, with driving without a license and speeding, 50 mph in a 30 mph zone, about 3:30 a.m. in the 7400 block of Roosevelt Road. She was given an Oct. 15 court date and released.FRIDAY, AUGUST 30
Liquor Store Employee Caught Stealing on Camera
A Famous Liquors employee faces retail theft charges after store surveillance videos recorded him stealing multiple times in the month of August, police said.Barry Russell, 57, of Forest Park, was arrested about 8:20 p.m. Aug. 30.
Police said surveillance cameras were installed at the store, located at 7714 Madison St., in early August after another employee saw Russell stealing liquor. Police said the employee first saw Russell steal a bottle of Grey Goose vodka, worth $17.99, on Aug. 9. Someone also saw Russell take two small $1 bottles on Aug. 20 and 22, police said. Another video showed Russell putting a bottle of wine in his waist band.
In all, police said Russell stole an estimated $583 in merchandise from the store. He was processed, given a Sept. 5 court date and held on bond.

Underage Drinking Arrests
Maureen Hanley, 20, and Melissa Vissman, 19, both of Westmont, were arrested for underage drinking following a disturbance in the 7400 block of Madison Street about 2 a.m.Police said Vissman, who was an "active participant in the melee" in the street, tried to walk away from police when they arrived at the scene.
Vissman and Hanley each received an Oct. 2 court date. Hanley told police she will be pleading not guilty because she was not drinking in any of the Forest Park bars.
Suspended License Arrest
Oscar Garcia, 24, of Chicago, was arrested for driving on a suspended license and improper lighting during a traffic stop about 11:40 p.m. near the intersection of Harlem Avenue and Washington Boulevard. He was given an Oct. 8 court date and released.Warrant: Trespassing
Police charged Elejandro Espino, 20, of Berwyn, with a warrant out of Berwyn for trespassing. He was given a Sept. 4 court date and released.Suspended License Arrest
Police charged Wanda Tompkins, 45, of Chicago, with driving on a suspended license during a traffic stop about 4:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of Circle Avenue.
