Make it Your Best Shot

If you're a photographer with a fondness for shooting things outdoors now's your chance for that picture to become a centerfold - or any other part of a calendar for that matter.

For the first time, the Forest Preserve District of Cook County is sponsoring a photography competition that will feature - what else - the landscape, wildlife, flora and fauna and great shots of people enjoying or participating in what the preserves have to offer. 

Winning photos will be included in the district's 2013 calendar, which is featured on FPDCC.com and on the Facebook page.

Submissions must have been taken in any of the forest preserves and posted on the Flickr page by Sept. 10. 

Here's how to enter:

• Use your Yahoo! ID, Google or Facebook to login to Flickr. If you do not have one, you can sign-up for free at Flickr.
• After logging in, upload photos using the mechanism provided. If you are not already a member of the district's group on Flickr, join by clicking “Join this Group?” on the group’s homepage.
• Browse to the image(s) you wish to submit and use the “Send to Group” function to add your images to photo pool.
• Once added to the group, tag each photo with “2013CC”. If you do not upload your photo to the district's page on Flickr, and/or do not tag your photo it will not be considered for the competition.

Voting on the best photos happen between Sept. 20 to Sept. 28 on the district's Facebook page.

Winners will receive a “Get Out and Enjoy the Preserves Prize Package,” a goodie bag of passes, discounts and giveaways.
