Man Cited for Sleeping in Car, Bike Stolen on Madison: Police

Loud Music Citation

Police issued a local ordinance citation for loud music to Raymond Lopez, 24, of Forest Park about 2 p.m. near the intersection of Jackson Boulevard and Circle Avenue. He was given a Nov. 6 court date and released.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 5

Bike Stolen

Someone stole a $500 bike from outside Doc Ryan's, 7432 Madison St., between 1:45 and 2:05 a.m. 

2 Charged for Stealing at Walmart

Police charged Azari Ruffin, 21, of Westmont, and a 17-year-old girl with retail theft after a Walmart employee saw them steal about $100 in clothes about 12:45 p.m. They were given a Nov. 6 court date and released. 

Man Cited for Sleeping in Car

Police issued a village ordinance citation to Martinez Butler, 50, of Broadview, for sleeping in his car for an extended period of time about 3:10 p.m. in the 200 block of Elgin Avenue. 

Suspended License Arrest

Police charged Marquez Vasquez, 21, of Chicago, with driving on a suspended license, without insurance and with expired registration about 5 p.m. in the 1300 block of Harlem Avenue. He was given an Oct. 8 court date and released. 

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4

Marijuana Possession

Police charged Frederick Birts, 31, of Milwaukee, with marijuana possession, driving without insurance and speeding during a traffic stop about noon near I-290 at 1st Avenue. Police said he had about 15 grams of marijuana. He was given an Oct. 15 court date and released. 

Car Part Stolen

Someone stole the catalytic converter from a 2002 Jeep Cherokee parked in the Village Van Buren commuter lot between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. The total estimated loss is $2,300, police said.
