Man Found Carrying Gun, Loaded Magazines: Police Blotter

SATURDAY, DEC. 15

Unlawful Possession of a Weapon

Vincent Joe Booker, 25, of Lombard, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon after his car was pulled over for a traffic stop in the 7700 block of Roosevelt Road, police said. Police said an officer noticed that Booker failed to signal before pulling into the parking lot at McGaffer's Saloon, 7737 Roosevelt Rd. Police said he appeared nervous  and after asking if he had any illegal items in the car, Booker first hesitated and then said he had a FOID card. The officer asked if he had a handgun and Booker told him he had one inside a bag in the front seat of his car. The officer found a Springfield Armory 9-mm handgun and four loaded magazines, police said.

Burglary

A saw valued at $300 was stolen from the garage of a home in the 1000 block of Thomas Street. Entry was gained through an unsecured overhead garage door that had been broken for more than a week, police said.

DUI

David R. Jackson, 35, of Glendale Heights, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after he hit another car while he was pulling out of a parking space in the 500 block of Circle Avenue, police said.

Outstanding Warrant

Lataurus J. Morris, 33, of Maywood ,was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of DuPage County for contempt of court, police said. He was picked up in the area of Marengo Avenue and Madison Street after an officer checked his car registration.

Public  Drunkeness

Justin L. Lawson, 21, of Oak Park, was cited under a local ordinance for open alcohol and public intoxication after causing a disturbance outside of Shortstop Bar, 7425 Madison St., police said.

FRIDAY, DEC. 14

Open Liquor

David C. Waller, 37, of Oak Park, was cited under a local ordinance for carrying open liquor, police said. He was apprehended in the 7500 block of Madison Street.

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Joseph O. Bempah, 26, of Maywood, was cited under a local ordinance for possession of drug paraphernalia after he was pulled over in the 800 block of Des Plaines Avenue for driving without his headlights, police said.

Outstanding Warrant

Andrew J. Burns, 26, of Indianapolis, was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Marion County for violating probation on charges of burglary and criminal trespass, police said. Police picked him up after he was seen throwing down a cup of beer outside of Doc Ryan's, 7432 Madison St.

THURSDAY, DEC. 13

Retail Theft

Dejuan L. Haslett, 19, of Algonquin, was cited under a local ordinance for retail theft after he stuffed a pair of gloves and a knit cap into his jacket and tried leaving CVS Pharmacy, 7216 Circle Ave., police said. The items were valued $12.98.

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Jonathon N. Alexander, 48, of Chicago, was cited under a local ordinance with possession of drug paraphernalia after a disturbance at the CTA Blue Line terminal at 711 Des Plaines Ave., police said.

Domestic Battery

Therman T. Banks, 23, of Maywood, was charged with domestic battery after an incident in the 400 block of Beloit Avenue, police said.

Retail Theft

James L. Webb, 55, of Chicago, was charged with felony retail theft after he hid a bottle of vodka in his jacket and attempted to leave USA Beverages, 7200 Madison St., police said. After he was brought into the Forest Park police department, authorities determined that he was wanted for a parole violation. He told police knew that he had a warrant stating that he had cut off the electronic monitoring device from his leg.

WEDNESDAY, DEC. 12

Burglary

An electric heater and a change bag were stolen from an unlocked 2006 Lincoln Town Car parked in the garage of a home in the 1200 block of Circle Avenue. The side garage door was unlocked at the time of the incident.

Retail Theft

Alvion R. Williams, 42, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft after trying to take two packages of blank CDs from Walmart, 1300 Des Plaines Ave. The items were valued at $45.76.

Possession of Drug Paraphernaila

Cassandra L. Dybeck, 21, of Belvidere, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after the car she was riding in was pulled over in the 700 block of Harlem Avenue for failing to signal, police said. Police said officers found two glass pipes, a used hypodermic needle and a clear ziplock baggie containing an off-white powdery substance inside her jeans during a pat-down search. 

TUESDAY, DEC. 11

Retail Theft

Denise Lewellen, 58, of Chicago, was charged with felony retail theft after trying to walk out of Walmart, 1300 Des Plaines Ave. with coffee, other food items, window curtains, shirts and a paperback book, police said. The items were valued at $65.09.

Drinking in Public

Johnnie E. Thompson, 46, of Chicago, was cited under a local ordinance for drinking in public after police saw him sipping liquor on a park bench in the area of Elgin Avenue and Franklin Street, police said.

Burglary from Auto

A radio face plate was taken from an unlocked 2002 Hyundai parked in the 400 block of Ferdinand Avenue.

MONDAY, Dec. 10

Battery

Carl L. Wofford, 50, of Forest Park was charged with battery and resisting/obstructing/disarming an officer after a disturbance at a home in the 7400 block of Washington Boulevard, police said. The dispute was about the retrieval of a set of house keys.
