Man Had 224 Grams of Pot, Loaded Gun in Car
Police charged William Morris, 25, of Broadview, with firearms possession, improper lane usage, possession with intent to deliver, marijuana possession, illegal weapon use and driving on a suspended or revoked license during a traffic stop about 11:30 p.m. near the intersection of Beloit Avenue and Roosevelt Road.Police said Morris had 224 grams of marijuana and a loaded gun with no serial number in his car. Morris told police someone had stolen his gun and scratched off the serial number, and that he planned on selling the marijuana to help pay his bills.
He was processed and given a Sept. 5 court date.

Felony Retail Theft
Police charged Robbie Hunt, 43, of Chicago, with felony retail theft at Kmart, 7630 Roosevelt Rd., after she tried to steal a Boost mobile phone around 9 a.m.A witness told police he saw a woman use a cutting tool to take two Boost mobile phones from their display and hand one to Hunt, who went to the store's pantry section and put the phone in her backpack, police said. Hunt was given an Aug. 22 court date and held on bond.
Begging, Soliciting Arrest
Phillip Waller, 53, of Chicago, was arrested for begging and soliciting in the intersection of I-290 and Harlem Avenue around 10:45 a.m.Retail Theft
Anith Avila, 20, of Cicero, was arrested for retail theft after she tried to steal about $37 in cosmetics from Walmart, 1300 Des Plaines Ave., around 3 p.m. She was given a local ordinance citation, an Oct. 2 court date and released from the scene.Man With 4 Kids Arrested for Seatbelt Violations
Phillip Robinson, 24, of Rockford, was arrested for driving with children not wearing seatbelts around 6:40 p.m. near the intersection of Madison Street and the railroad tracks in River Forest. Police said one of the children was in the middle of the front seat, sharing a seatbelt with Robinson, and three in the back. He was processed on one count of driving on a suspended license and four counts of vehicle code violations, given a Sept. 3 court date and released on bond.Warrant: Driving Without a License
Police charged Corey Akers, 31, of Forest Park, with a warrant out of DuPage County for driving without a valid license or insurance around 11 p.m. in the 7300 block of Randolph Street.
