Thursday, October 24

Trespassing Arrest on Humphrey

Police charged John Maher, 76, of Chicago, with trespassing in the 1100 block of South Humphrey Avenue about 9:30 a.m. He was held on bond. 

Car Ransacked on Elmwood

Someone entered an unlocked garage in the 800 block of North Elmwood Avenue,  ransacked the inside of a car and stole $15 between 4 p.m. Oct. 23 and 6:30 a.m. Oct. 24. 

Retail Theft Arrests

  • Police charged Alphonso Mack, 49, of Chicago, with retail theft at 7-Eleven on South Boulevard about 7 p.m. He was processed and released on bond.
  • Police charged a Chicago juvenile with retail theft at Deals, 6405 North Ave., about 3:15 p.m. He was released to his parents. 

Theft Attempt on Kenilworth

Someone tried to steal aluminum siding from the back porch of a home in the 500 block of North Kenilworth Avenue between 4 p.m. Oct. 17 and 1:30p.m. Oct. 24. 

$40 Stolen From Office

Someone stole $40 from a desk drawer in an office in the 100 block of Erie Court between 5 a.m. Oct. 23 and 10:10 p.m. Oct. 24. 

Wednesday, October 23

Stroller Stolen

Someone stole an unattended stroller from the sidewalk in the 900 block of Lake Street between 4 p.m. Oct. 21 and 7 a.m. Oct. 23. The total estimated loss is $450, police said. 

Car Part Stolen

Someone stole the catalytic converter from a car in the 1500 block of North Harlem Avenue between 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. 

Friday, October 18

Public Urination

Police issued a local ordinance citation for public urination to Paul Balich, 21, of North Riverside, after police saw him urinating in the entry way of a yoga studio in the 7400 block of Madison Street about 2 a.m. He was given a Dec. 4 court date and released. 

Thursday, October 17 

Retail Theft, Contributing to Delinquency of a Minor

Forest Park police charged Lavon Young, 43, of Oak Park, with retail theft at CVS, 7216 Circle Ave. about 8 a.m. A store employee told police she saw Young, who was with an 8-year-old boy and a 29-year-old woman, put five Taster's Choice coffees, worth about $57, into a black suitcase. He ran when a store employee tried to stop him. He was charged with retail theft and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. 

Bike Stolen

Someone stole a bike from a yard in the 1000 block of North Oak Park Avenue between Oct. 8 and about 3 p.m. Oct. 17. 

Tuesday, October 15

Oak Park Man Arrested for Marijuana Possession

Forest Park police charged Dion Horton, 20, of Oak Park, with marijuana possession during a traffic stop near the intersection of Madison Street and Elgin Avenue about 1 a.m. Police said Horton had three bags of the drug in his pockets and five more in the car, totaling about 6.8 grams. He was given a Dec. 4 court date and released.
