Mother, Son Arrested for Retail Theft

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 28
Mother, Son Arrested for Retail Theft
Police charged Tremell Brown, 29, and Michelle Winbush, 39, both of Chicago, with retail theft about 12:40 p.m. at CVS, 7216 Circle Ave. Carl Morrison, 58, of Chicago, who drove Brown and Winbush away from the scene, was also arrested for driving on a suspended license and operating an uninsured vehicle.

Police said Brown had taken about $250 in hygiene items and Winbush took about $120 in merchandise.
Winbush told police she was taking her son, Brown, to court and decided to stop at CVS to pick up some witch hazel. She said they both left without buying anything and denied stealing, police said.

They were processed on felony retail theft charges and held on bond.
Driving Without Insurance
Police cited Brandon Caldwell, 27, of Forest Park, with driving on a suspended license, without insurance and avoiding a traffic device after he tried to cut through a gas station to avoid a light about 9:15 a.m. in the 600 block of Harlem Avenue. He was given an Oct. 1 court date and released.
Suspended License Arrests
- Police charged Tierra Jenkins, 24, of Chicago, with driving on a suspended license and a seatbelt violation about 4 p.m. in the 7700 block of Roosevelt Road. She was given an Oct. 8 court date.
- Police charged Curtis Walker, 54, of Westchester, with driving on a suspended license and a warrant out of DuPage County for driving on a suspended license about 6 p.m. in the 8600 block of Roosevelt Road. He was processed and given an Oct. 8 court date.
- Police charged Hermann Bouah, 34, of Chicago, with driving on a suspended license and with no headlights about 9:30 p.m. in the 700 block of Harlem Avenue. He was given an Oct. 8 court date and released from the scene.
TUESDAY, AUGUST 27
Stealing Was a "Dumb Mistake"
Police charged Dulce Hernandez, 40, of Cicero, with retail theft after a Walmart employee saw her take several items from the cosmetic aisle, then only pay for some of them. Hernandez told police she’d made a “dumb mistake,” in stealing about $32 in merchandise.
MONDAY, AUGUST 26
Suspended License Arrest
Police charged Debra Croom, 59, of Schaumburg, with driving on a suspended license and with a defective windshield near the intersection of 1st and Roosevelt about 5:45 p.m. She was released from the scene.
