Man Charged After Stealing $130 in Nasal Strips: Police Blotter

SATURDAY, JAN. 12
Driving on a Suspended License
William K. Mandeville, 57, of Oak Park was charged with felony driving on a suspended license, operating an uninsured car and driving with an expired registration after his car was stopped in the area of Randolph Street and Circle Avenue for having an expired registration, police said. Police said Mandeville could not produce a driver's license or insurance card at the time his car was stopped. The registration on his car had been given to him by a friend, Mandeville told police. Mandeville had prior convictions in 2003 for driving under the influence of alcohol and driving on a suspended license, police said.
Possession of a Controlled Substance
James R. Stenberg, 27, of Joliet was charged with possession of a controlled substance after the car he was riding in was curbed in the 7200 block of Roosevelt Road for having an obstructed windshield, police said. Approximately 2.5 grams of heroin had been found in his possession after a custodial search, police said. Stenberg also had an outstanding warrant out of Will County for an unspecified family offense and another out of Cicero for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Stolen Auto
A 2012 Nissan was stolen from the 300 block of Harlem Avenue.
Possession of Marijuana
Luis A. Alvarez, 28, of Chicago was cited under a local ordinance for possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop in the area of Marengo Avenue and Roosevelt Road for failing to signal a right-hand turn, police said. After the officer pulled over his car, he found a multi-colored glass pipe with cannabis residue on the center console.

DUI
Arturo Rios-Mariscal, 42, of Berwyn was charged with felony aggravated DUI, misdemeanor DUI, driving without a license and improper lane usage after he was driving erratically in the 800 block of South Harlem Avenue, police said. Police said Rios-Mariscal's car nearly collided with a police car and continued to weave between lanes before an officer pulled him over on South Harlem Avenue. The officer then asked Rios-Mariscal for license and insurance and noticed that he smelled a strong odor of alcohol on him. Rios-Mariscal refused to take a breathalyzer after he was brought in to the station, police said.

FRIDAY, JAN. 11
Retail Theft
Jeffrey A. Heckl, 21, of Chicago was charged with retail theft after he concealed $129.61 worth of nasal strips and tried to run out of Walmart, police said.
WEDNESDAY, JAN. 9
Retail Theft
Thomas H. Schaderberg, 27, was cited under a local ordinance for retail theft after he tried to take items valued at $10.61 from Walmart, 1300 Des Plaines Ave., police said.
Retail Theft
Jamal Campbell, 18, of Chicago was charged with felony retail theft and two other teens from Chicago were charged with retail theft and resisting obstructing an officer after shoplifting Sony PS3 controllers from Walmart, police said. Jacquese T. Sims, 18 and Stevonta J. Campbell, 19, were charged with retail theft and resisting, obstructing an officer in connection with the incident.
Warrant Arrest
Lowry S. Taylor, 54, of Maywood was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Chicago for an unspecified charge, police said. Police picked him up after he was pulled over in the 8000 block of Roosevelt Road for having an expired registration on his 2006 Ford Taurus.
Suspended, Revoked License
Gustavo A. Jacabo, 29, of Oak Park was charged with driving on a suspended license after an officer, who after conducting a LEADS check found his license had been suspended. He was pulled him over in the area of Ferdinand Avenue and Roosevelt Road, police said.

TUESDAY, JAN. 8
Retail Theft
Eric D. Zaragoza, 24, of Berwyn was cited under a local ordinance for retail theft after he put a stick of deodorant and a tub of facial scrub in his jacket and ran out of Walmart, police said. Police pulled over Zaragoza's Pontiac Grand Am in the 7000 block of Roosevelt Road after he stole the items valued at $6.80 and took off east on Roosevelt.
