Police Charge Man With 44 Grams of Pot in His Pants: Police Blotter

WEDNESDAY, MAY 22
Marijuana Possession (44 Grams), Intent to Deliver
Police charged Tommy Gumbus, 36, of Bolingbrook with marijuana possession, possession with intent to deliver more than 30 grams and failure to signal.Police smelled pot in Gumbus' car and noticed his pants were undone during a traffic stop at 1290 Des Plaines Avenue around 3:30 p.m.He told police he had "an ounce and a half of weed" in his pants, and that he'd undone his pants to try and hide it. Police found two bags of marijuana totaling about 44 grams in his pants and $143 in cash, police said. He told police he stole the marijuana from a car outside of a barber shop in Bolingbrook and that he was going to sell it for $200-$300. He was processed and given a June 13 court date.

Assault, Battery
Mutaz Alhijaj, 25, of Forest Park was arrested for assault and battery about 11:45 p.m. in the 1000 block of Harlem Avenue. The caller told police Alhijaj and another friend of theirs got into an argument, and Alhijaj pushed the other man and grabbed his throat. Alhijaj told police he did push the other fighter and pushed him in the throat but no punches were thrown, police said. He was issued a village ordinance citation.Break-in Attempt
