Authorities said that an officer found two large bundles of pills on William Dyer during a pat-down at the gas station. Authorities said the drugs turned out to be generic Hydrocodone and Xanax, which Dyer said told police he had just bought from his dealer at Madison Street and Hannah Avenue. Police asked Vasquez to leave the area by crossing Madison Street, and he did, but he stopped in eastbound lanes of traffic and began yelling at police. Other officers ordered him numerous times to continue walking away and not stand in traffic, but he refused.

He then was placed under arrest and charged with public intoxication, violating a village ordinance, along with reckless conduct, police said. Police said he also struggled with police attempts to cuff him, and eventually was placed in custody.

Related Burglaries

Burglaries at two restaurants that took place just hours apart on Oct. 15 are being investigated as related incidents, police said.

At Subway, 321 Harlem Ave., an untold amount of money was taken from a cash register during the break-in, which was reported at 5:25 a.m. Police who arrived on the scene after the incident found that the cash register was open with $150 inside and a tip jar undisturbed on the counter. Entry was gained by prying the lower half of the door with a pry-type tool, shattering the glass.

Unlawful Use of a Weapon

A 22-year-old from Maywood was charged Oct. 21 with one count of felony unlawful use of a weapon and other offenses after a traffic stop at Circle Avenue and Fillmore Street, police said.

Authorities said Kyler Washington was pulled over after a random registration check found that the vehicle's registration had expired, and so had his license. He also noted that there was a heavy odor of cannabis coming from the car. Washington told police he had marijuana in the car and gave police three bags off a green leafy substance, field tested to be marijuana. Additional marijuana and a scale also were given up by Washington, police said.

In asking Washington if he had anything else in the car that police should about, the Maywood resident said he had a gun underneath the driver's seat, at which time an officer cuffed him. An officer who arrived on the scene retrieved the marijuana, the scale and a loaded 9mm handgun from the car.

Washington also was charged with six counts of operating an uninsured auto, five counts of having an expired registration, four counts of possession of a controlled substance, three additional counts of unlawful possession of a firearm and two counts of not having a firearms identification card, police said.
