CTA Cars Vandalized by Graffiti Writers

Police also find tags on the wall of a local business.

Offenders on Dec. 27 used multiple colors of spray paint to deface two CTA train cars with tagger name designs, police said.

An officer came to the shop area at 1 S. Harlem Ave. and saw two cars sitting in the train yard next to the shop building. Three different tagger's names were found on the cars; under each design, names were spray painted on the lower section of the cars near the wheels. On one car, the names of ATHER Astro and MEALS WILEY were found. The word "GUNS" also was painted on the same car in yellow, green, purple and orange. On the other car, the tagger's name design was either FENDS or TENDS, police said. The initials BTL also were painted in dark blue and light blue paint. Workers found the damage after 5 p.m. on Dec. 27.

In another tagging incident, someone used orange spray paint to write SMAL, DZO and ROCKY on the south side wall of Blueberry Hill Lounge, 427 Des Plaines Ave. The damage was discovered on Dec. 21, police said.
