Police said a man in his late 20s approached the 67-year-old woman around 2:20 p.m. at Wal-Mart and asked her a question in broken English. Another woman, about 40, approached them and translated for the man, who during the conversation called an unknown number on a cell phone and found out he won $200,000 in the lottery, police said.

The man then asked for $30,000 from the two women so he could get a fake green card and cash in on the winnings. In exchange for their help, he promised he'd give each of them $100,000, police said.

The trio then went to a home near Cermak Road, Bank of America, and the woman's home to collect the money before the man and woman disappeared when they got to Jewel, 7525 Lake St. in River Forest, police said.
