Woman Exposes Herself to Drivers, Gets Arrested for Traffic Warrants: Police Blotter

MONDAY, FEB. 18
Soliciting Contributions in the Roadway
William Manning, 44, of Oak Lawn, was cited under a village ordinance with solilciting contributions in the roadway after he was picked up on Harlem Avenue and the Eisenhower Expressway, police said. Police said Manning was walking up and down on the roadway between traffic lanes holding a white cardboard sign displaying the word "homeless" on it.
Retail Theft
Vickie Valentin, 47, of Berwyn, was charged with retail theft. Police said she tried leaving Kmart, 7630 Roosevelt Rd., with $92.39 worth of clothing she'd hidden in a purse she also wanted to take, police said.

SATURDAY, FEB. 16
Possession of Marijuana, Drug Equipment
Scott D. Renwick, 32, of Plainfield, was charged with possession of drug equipment and possession of marijuana after a traffic stop in the area of Harlem Avenue and the Eisenhower Expressway, police said. Police found a small amount of burnt cannabis when they asked Renwick to get out of the car. A search of the trunk of his 1999 Mitsubishi Galant turned up a plastic baggie containing 3 grams of marijuana, eight hypodermic needles and a spoon with a burnt underside and cotton in the center, police said.

FRIDAY, FEB. 15
Outstanding Warrants
Maricela Garcia, 40, of Berwyn, was arrested on outstanding warrants out of Forest Park for failing to appear in court on a charge of driving on a suspended license and out of Kendall County on a bond forfeiture warrant for driving on an expired registration, police said. She was apprehended in the 7600 block of Roosevelt Road after getting reports that a woman wearing pink pants was exposing herself to motorists.
THURSDAY, FEB. 14
Trespass to State-Supported Land
Lorenzo D. Harris, 36, of Chicago, was charged with trespass to state-supported land after refusing to leave the CTA Blue Line station at 711 Des Plaines Ave., police said. Police were called to the station after a man, later identified as Harris, was asked several times to leave the platform and that he may re-enter by repaying his fare. Security at the station found that Harris was drinking malt liquor and vodka and had bottles in possession when he was taken into custody, police said.
TUESDAY, FEB. 12
Retail Theft, Driving on a Suspended License
Akeem J. Jackson, 21, of Chicago was charged with felony retail theft and driving on a suspended license after a search of the getaway car he was in turned up items he had recently shoplifted from Walmart, 7630 Roosevelt Rd., police said. Police arrived on the scene and were told that an offender fled in a Dodge Avenger. Police saw the car pulling into the BP station at Harlem Avenue and Roosevelt Road and curbed the car. Jackson was positively identified by store security as the person who had shoplifted baby items, valued at $95.70. Other items believed to be stolen also were in the car, police said.
MONDAY, FEB. 11
Heroin Possession
Mercedes I. Abreu, 34, of Chicago, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after police found her stopped in the center lane of traffic on Roosevelt Road, police said. After ordering her out of the car, police found on the driver's side a small plastic knotted bag containing a white powdery substance that turned out to be 1 gram of heroin. On the passenger's side, officers found a gold colored bottle cap that was burnt on the bottom with an off-white residue on the inside, police said. A name check revealed she was wanted on three outstanding warrants out of Cook County for theft, police said.
Retail Theft
Jammah K. Olden, 34, of Chicago and Emika M. Royal, 34, of Chicago were cited under a local ordinance for retail theft after they attempted to leave Ultra Foods, 7520 Roosevelt Rd., with items valued at $24.25 and $35.50, respectively, police said.
