Aggravated Assault

Police were called to Damenzo's Pizza, 7300 Roosevelt Road, in response to a woman who was bothering customers and refused to leave at about 9:21 p.m.

Rebecca Cox, 49, of Chicago, was asked to leave Smokin' M's restaurant less than an hour earlier, police said. A resident also called police to complain that Cox rang her doorbell earlier in the evening.

"From those previous incidents, (she) appeared to be intoxicated and belligerent, however was complying," according to the police report.

Cox was eating a slice of pizza and drinking beer at Damenzo's, and when asked to leave she began "speaking in a nonsensical and irrational way" and refused to leave. When she stood up, police said she tried to hide her beer under her arm and walk outside with it.

Police tried to grab the bottle of beer from Cox, but it fell to the ground. Cox then took a swing at the officer and was restrained. She was charged with aggravated assault and given an April 16 court date.

Criminal Trespass

Police responded to Doc Ryan's Bar, 7432 Madison St., at 1:40 a.m. in response to a vagrant who returned to the bar after being removed earlier that night.

When police arrived, the man—Anthony V. Thomas, 27, of Oak Park—crossed the street and went into Short Stop Lounge. Police arrested him there and charged him with criminal trespass.

Earlier in the evening, police said Thomas brought his own bottle of tequila into Doc Ryan's, which isn't allowed. He agreed to leave at the time, and the bar owner said he would file a criminal trespassing complaint if Thomas returned.
