Woman Takes Sledgehammer to Denver Boot on Car: Police

SATURDAY, AUGUST 24

Marijuana Possession

Police charged Brian Sutton, 39, of Chicago with marijuana possession about 12:40 a.m. in the 300 block of Berkhart Avenue. He was given a local ordinance citation for marijuana possession and an Oct. 1 court date.

Suspended License

Police charged Kantrell Taylor, 23, of Chicago, with driving on a suspended license, operating an uninsured vehicle, illegal liquor transport and an improper turn about 2:15 a.m. in the 900 block of Harlem Avenue. He was given four citations and released.

Sledgehammer Taken to Boot 

Police charged Simmons, 24, of Chicago, with criminal damage to government-supported property after she tried to use a sledgehammer to remove a Denver boot from her car in the 900 block of Thomas Avenue. She was processed on a felony charge of property damage, given an Aug. 29 court date and held on bond. 

Driving Without a License 

Police charged Darrel Washington, 36, of Bellwood, with driving without a license during a traffic stop about 8:30 a.m. in the 7600 block of Roosevelt Road. He was given an Oct. 1 court date and released on bond.

Retail Theft Arrest 

Police charged Jasmine Payton, 22, of Chicago, with retail theft about 4:20 p.m. at Walmart, 1300 Des Plaines Ave. A store employee told police he saw Payton steal a Hello Kitty shopping bag from the store. She was given an Oct. 2 court date and released.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 23

Bike Stolen

Someone stole a $140 bike locked to a fence in the 100 block of Belvidere Avenue between 6 and 7:45 a.m.

Suspended License 

Police charged Marseil Jackson, 25, of Chicago, with driving on a suspended license, without insurance, resisting an officer and improper lane usage around 6 p.m. in the 600 block of Harlem Avenue. He was processed, given a Sept. 1- court date and released on bond.

Retail Theft Arrest

Police charged Teresa Stiles, 44, of Chicago, with retailt theft and a warrant for contempt of court around 8 p.m. at Kmart, 7630 Roosevelt Rd.

A store employee told police he saw Stiles take about $243 in merchandise into the bathroom, then leave the store with the items in her handbag. She was processed, given an Oct. 8 court date and held on bond.
