WOMEN IN THE KNOW CELEBRATES ONE YEAR OF SUCCESSFUL CONVERSATION FORUMS BRINGING WOMEN TOGETHER

LAKE
FOREST, IL (MAY-JULY 2014) – Amie Marks, founder of Women in the Know,
believes that women can move mountains when working together toward common good.
Marks launched Women in the Know one year ago in May 2013, to offer women a
platform by way of a series of discussions and complimentary luncheons to speak
openly about world issues, current events, and timely topics. The series have touched
on everything from GMO’s and organics, the U.S. healthcare system, and women’s
issues in foreign countries. Throughout May-July 2014, Marks will speak on the
effects of globalization.  

As the world tries to bounce back from a rough couple of
years of economic turbulence and global uncertainty, it’s important for women
to take charge of their lives and protect their families. According to InpowerWomen.com,
women perform 66% of the world’s work, produce 50% of the world’s food, and
earn only 10% of the income. Fortunately, there has been growing recognition
that women are becoming the solution to our world problems. Many women’s groups
and organizations are popping up, spreading awareness, hitting the streets, and
getting their hands dirty.

Join Women in the Know in this women’s movement at the 2014
summer series from May-July. Marks will focus on the effects of globalization,
taking a look at sustainable natural resources and women’s global positive
influences. Current technology has stimulated an incredible growth in energy
supply in the country, and it’s important for women to know how they can play
their impactful role as it pertains to globalization.

The first luncheon in May will focus on a U.S. and global
energy update and a look at the ever-changing energy supply in the U.S. and its
global effect. June’s discussion will feature emerging markets, the world’s
growing consumer bases and its drain on natural resources. July will wrap the
series up discussing women’s roles in our global world, and the positive global
effects of the growing role of women in politics, in the military, and in
business.

"The topics are timely and often already being discussed
in the media. However, at this forum, there is no bias, no political
influence,” says Women in the Know regular participant Brianne Claeys of Lake
Forest. “You get the facts you need to make a personal educated decision
on things that affect your life today."

Claeys isn’t the only “woman in the know” who has felt the
effects of attending. Many women leave feeling more fulfilled with the
enriching conversation at these luncheons. Much of the subject matter sparks
ideas and thoughts that otherwise would not have crossed the mind. Women are
the movers and the shakers, and all discussions relate back to women’s issues,
health, and empowerment. Marks unveils these difficult topics and opens the
closet door for women to express their true feelings, and urges them to take control
and make a difference at home and in their community.
