June 19, 2016, St. Charles, IL | The 2016, 13U Lincoln-Way Vipers Travel Baseball team fought hard to win 2nd Place in the The BOMC "Jerry May" Memorial Father's Day Tournament, held in Oak Lawn/St. Charles, IL. The Vipers competed against some of the most talented teams in the Chicagoland area to win 2nd Place.

The Lincoln Way 13U Vipers pulled out a win, in the Semi-Finals with the help of Clark Dilger, who had two extra base hits, sparking the Lincoln Way Vipers 13U to a 5-2 victory in seven innings over Orland Park Magic on Sunday at St. Charles IL.

Pitcher, Danny Hiemer baffled the Orland Park Magic, striking out nine batters, allowing no earned runs on five hits and no walks over six innings.

The Orland Park Magic team jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but the 13U Lincoln Way Vipers stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the third, scoring three runs on an RBI double by Clark Dilger and a two-run single by Kevin Wandick. The Lincoln Way Vipers increased their final lead with two runs in the sixth. A double by Julian Niewiadomski ignited the offense, scoring Clark to end the ballgame, and move them onto the Championship game.

Sunday’s Championship Game, despite their eight hits, the 2016, 13U Lincoln Way Vipers lost 11-3 to the Chicagoland Panthers on Sunday, rewarding them with a 2nd Place trophy at the Jerry May Father’s Day Memorial Tournament in St. Charles, IL

Unfortunately, even with three runs in the top of the third that helped the LW Vipers 13U close their deficit to 9-3. An RBI single by Austin Rockaitis, a bases loaded walk by Nolan Radecky, and an RBI single by Julian Niewiadomski triggered the Lincoln Way Vipers 13U's comeback but it wasn’t enough to overcome over the Chicagoland Panthers.

Congratulations to Coach Bob Hiemer and his staff for a great weekend of baseball, and great teamwork.
