FRANKFORT, IL — A 14-year-old bicyclist was hit by a car on the Old Plank Trail Sunday. Police said the teen was riding his bike at 12:45 p.m. June 30 eastbound on the trail toward Elsner Road when he rode into the path of a vehicle travelling southbound on Elsner.
According to police, the teen did not stop at the stop sign and rode directly in front of the car. The teen suffered head and soft tissue injuries and was taken to Silver Cross Hospital.
Chief John Burica addressed the incident at the July 1 village board meeting and reminded residents that trail users should yield the right-of-way to traffic. People should not enter the crosswalks until it's safe to do so.
