What will be your single most important priority if you get elected?
Making sure that everybody is being assessed fairly. With the current economy and the ongoing loss in home values, it is essential that all home values are constantly monitored.

Why are you seeking office?
Because I do not believe the office is being operated professionally, but politically. Frankfort Township residents/taxpayers need to be treated fairly, honestly, and impartially. There should be no politics or favoritism when assessing properties.
What sets you apart from the other candidates?
For over 36 years I have been in the property tax field, gaining extensive knowledge and experience. I have the ability to professionally work within the property tax process and knowledgeably discuss diverse types of property values. My opponent does not have this type of experience when it comes to valuing complex commercial/industrial properties. Working under his predecessor, Paul Ruff, he mainly dealt with residential properties.
In your opinion, what are the primary challenges facing the township?
The primary challenge currently is dealing with the downturn in the economy. Housing values have plummeted over the past several years and the assessor needs to make sure that the home values are reflecting that loss in value. The assessor can't pick and choose who gets lowered and who gets raised. Every taxpayer needs to be judged solely on their property's fair market value. There should be no special treatment.
How will you address those challenges?
I will make sure there are professional personnel in the office who will assist me in continuously reviewing values in the township. When valuing properties, there will be no favoritism in setting the values. In this economy, my staff and I will do everything we can to make sure the township residents/taxpayers are all valued fairly and equitably.
If elected, what will be your philosophy as a member of the township board?
As the township assessor, I will attend township board meetings to keep them apprised of the operations of my office. I will also offer any professional input that will make Frankfort Township a better place to live. I will work to have all township actions publicly known to all residents. And I will not tolerate "behind closed doors" decisions that waste our precious tax dollars.
Please add any other information pertinent to your campaign.
I have the expertise to properly and professionally value all properties in the township so everybody pays their fair share of taxes. When I take office, I will not have any favoritism when it comes to valuing property. All taxpayers will be treated fairly, especially in these difficult economic times.
