3rd Graders At Indian Trail Honor Heroes On Patriots Day
Students at Indian Trail School learned about the events of September 11, 2001 and why Patriots Day is celebrated.

FRANKFORT, IL -- All third grade classes at Indian Trail School in Frankfort reflected on "what it means to be a proud American" on Patriots Day, Sept. 11 this year. While none of the students who took part in the discussions and activity were alive during the terrorist attacks on New York City, Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania in 2001, they all talked about the importance of the heroes from that day and how Americans came to celebrate Patriots Day.
All students also took part in creating a "Remembrance Quilt" to honor those who lost their lives and the ones who rushed in to help others in 2001, School Secretary Kathleen Pirkle said. They also read various patriotic stories, held class discussions on types of heroes and talked about the important job of first responders.
