Colleagues praise his daily presence, literacy visits, and creative efforts to make school feel welcoming and safe.    

• Mokena Man Arrested In Sharon Lane Shooting, Standoff Indicted On All Charges (patch.com) — A Frankfort business owner who lives in Mokena has been indicted on multiple firearm-related charges after a May 5 incident in which he reportedly shot himself and then refused to leave his Sharon Lane home. Police say a woman called for help, a standoff followed, and he’s now free under strict conditions while awaiting a July 7 arraignment.    

• IL Senate unanimously passes plan calling for school panic alert systems to improve emergency response (wandtv.com) — A school safety plan backed by Sen. Michael Hastings of Frankfort has unanimously passed the Illinois Senate, encouraging public and private schools to consider mobile panic alert systems for emergencies. The measure, tied to Alyssa’s Law, aims to speed communication with 911 and first responders, and now returns to the House after language changes.
