FRANKFORT, IL — The Frankfort Area Historical Society, in partnership with the Village of Frankfort, will open a time capsule that was buried in July 1976.
According to the Village, the opening of the 1976 time capsule is part of Frankfort's celebration of America's 250th Anniversary. The 1976 time capsule was buried during the nation's Bicentennial celebration.
"In accordance with the instructions contained in an accompanying letter, the capsule will be opened on July 4, 2026, exactly 50 years later," the Village said.
The event will take place at Breidert Green at 11 a.m. on July 4.
