Frankfort Starts 2026 Road Resurfacing Projects (patch.com) — Frankfort residents can expect a busy construction season as the village launches its 2026 Road Resurfacing Program, backed by $5 million in capital funds. Numerous neighborhood streets across town, from Brendan Street to Port Washington Drive, will see patching and hot-mix asphalt resurfacing, with roads kept open but temporary parking restrictions in place during the work.
2. Classic Wheels Spotlight: 1913 Locomobile Model M48 (shawlocal.com) — Frankfort resident Dennis Heywood owns a remarkably rare 1913 Locomobile Model M48 that he painstakingly restored after it sat unused for decades. Nearly all of the luxury car’s components, including its leather interior and paint, remain original. He now brings the massive touring car to local cruise nights and shows, happily sharing its history with curious onlookers.
3. New Lenox Township House Fire Extinguished In Minutes, No Injuries Reported: Fire Officials (patch.com) — Fire crews from New Lenox, with help from Frankfort and other districts, quickly knocked down a Parker Road house fire Tuesday morning, and no injuries were reported. Residents had safely evacuated before firefighters arrived, and paramedics found no one needed hospital transport. The cause of the blaze, which began in the walk-out basement, remains under investigation.
4. Donneta Sandmann Obituary June 14, 2026 - Baldwin Brothers Funeral & Cremation (baldwincremation.com) — Frankfort residents are remembering Donneta “Dee” Sandmann, a longtime managing broker of RE/MAX All Properties in town, who passed away June 14 at age 96. Survived by several children living in Frankfort, she was known for her devotion to family, community service with Scouts, and a vibrant life that included a perfect 300 bowling game at Lemont Lanes.
