FRANKFORT, IL — This spring, some unexpected visitors have made Cedarhurst of Frankfort their home.
Two families of wild ducks have moved into the community, one settling into the Assisted Living courtyard and the other in the Memory Care courtyard.
The ducks have brought a daily source of joy for residents, families and staff. Residents love to check in on the ducks, and visiting family members even ask for updates.
"The ducks have reminded all of us that joy doesn't have to be complicated," Tabitha Russ, Executive Director, Cedarhurst of Frankfort told Patch.
The Cedarhurst team has also embraced the visitors and have provided a small pool, food and a safe environment. One resident even enjoys cleaning the duck pool, while others leave food outside their patios, a Cedarhurst representative told Patch.
""They've given our residents something to anticipate each day, sparked conversations and smiles throughout the community, and created moments of connection between residents, families, and our team. It's been a beautiful reminder that some of life's most meaningful experiences are also the simplest," Russ said.
