Hildegarde June Schildgen, age 86, of Joliet, IL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Joliet. She was born on June 23, 1940, in Joliet, to Frank and Amelia (nee Kaehlert) Schildgen.

Hildegarde is survived by her beloved children, Timothy Shafer, Mark (Cindy) Shafer, and Jennifer (Daniel) Bishop; stepchildren, Janice (the late Alix P. Salomon) Ducksworth, Joy (Doug) Ducksworth, Lesa Ducksworth; numerous adoring grandchildren; loving great-grandchildren; dear siblings, Gerald (Barbara) Schildgen, Karen Eklund, and Karl (Anita) Schildgen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Lee E. Ducksworth, Sr.; step-son, Lee E. Ducksworth, Jr.; and two siblings, Marjorie Krajewski and Donald Schildgen.

A Visitation for Hildegarde June Schildgen will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. in Joliet, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Services at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet.
