2-Year-Old Boy Dead In 'Domestic-Related Homicide' In Frankfort: Police

FRANKFORT, IL — A 2-year-old boy has died after a "domestic-related homicide" in Frankfort on Tuesday, Frankfort Police shared in a news release.

Police officers were called to the 22700 block of Brook Stone Court for a report of an unresponsive juvenile at 4:04 p.m. on Tuesday. When they arrived, police said they found a 2-year-old at the home.

CPR was being administered, and the child was taken to a local hospital, police said.

The Will County Coroner's Office said the 2-year-old boy was pronounced dead at 4:48 p.m. Tuesday at Silver Cross Hospital as the result of an apparent homicide.

Officers also found the child's mother at the home attempting self-harm, police said. She was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation indicates the killing is a domestic-related homicide, police said.

Frankfort Police told Patch that no additional injuries occurred as part of this incident. They also refuted media reports that a second child had been harmed.

"Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this tragedy," police said. "We encourage our community to support one another with compassion, understanding and strength as we navigate this difficult time together."

Police said the investigation remains ongoing.

The coroner's office said an autopsy was performed on Wednesday. The final cause and manner of death will be determined after autopsy, police and toxicological reports.
