FRANKFORT, IL — A woman accused of killing her 2-year-old son is now charged with three counts of first-degree murder but remains hospitalized, Frankfort Police said Friday.
Corie A. Walsh, 38, has been charged in connection to the toddler's death. Police said she is currently in custody and being held for medical treatment.
Once she is released from treatment, Walsh will be taken to the Will County Adult Detention Facility to await a detention hearing. No booking photo of Walsh was available as of Friday.
Police said officers responded at 4:04 p.m. Tuesday to Brook Stone Court for a report of an unresponsive juvenile. A 2-year-old boy was taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Neither police nor the Will County Coroner's office have disclosed how the toddler died.
Walsh was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after reportedly attempting self-harm, police said.
Three other juveniles were located unharmed at the home, police said.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, their loved ones and everyone affected by this heartbreaking tragedy," police said. "We ask our community to keep them in their thoughts and prayers and to respect their privacy as they navigate this profoundly difficult time."
