New Jamaican Jerk Restaurant Moves Forward In Frankfort

FRANKFORT, IL — Plans for a new carry-out restaurant moved forward at Monday's Frankfort Village Board meeting as the Board approved a special use permit for Jamaican Jerk Choice.

The business will be located at 19955 S. La Grange Road, within the Hickory Creek Market Place.

Trustee Gene Savaria said the plan commission reviewed the project on Sept. 10, and unanimously recommended approval.

According to Board documents, the applicant, Paul Green, has two other locations for his business, one in Calumet City and one in Oak Forest. Green was raised in Jamaica, and now lives in Frankfort.

Menu items include jerk chicken, jerk fish, curry goat, curry chicken, and sides like steamed cabbage, red beans and rice, and callaloo. Jerk is a style of cooking in Jamaica, which involves dry-rubbing or marinating meat in spices.
