FRANKFORT, IL — A Burr Ridge man has been charged with impersonating a public officer after he identified himself as a U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency agent and presented fraudulent credentials in Frankfort, Frankfort Police said in a news release.
Edward Kajmowicz, 46, was charged with impersonating a public officer and unlawful possession of weapons after the incident on Oct. 19 in Frankfort.
Kajmowicz was stopped for a traffic offense at La Grange Road and Lincoln-Way Lane in Frankfort on Oct. 19, police said. During the encounter, police said he identified himself as an agent with the U.S. DEA and gave credentials that were later confirmed to be fraudulent.
When he was arrested, officials say Kajmowicz was also in possession of a semi-automatic firearm. His Illinois FOID card was previously revoked, police said.
Further investigation, in collaboration with the DEA, found that Kajmowicz is not, and has not previously, employed with the agency, police said.
He is due in court on Nov. 9.
