Lincoln-Way North Students Inducted into Science Honor Society

More than 70 Lincoln-Way North High School students were inducted into the Science National Honor Society on Wednesday, Jan. 12.

The students were selected based on their outstanding commitment to academic excellence in all course work, especially in the area of science.

“It is with a great deal of pride that I am able to witness the beginning of a new era at Lincoln-Way North with the induction of our first class of Science National Honor Society students,” said Principal Michael Gardner. “I congratulate all of you for your successes in science.”

The Science National Honor Society was established in 2000 and welcomes all qualified secondary school students to participate in and to be recognized for scientific excellence, explained science teacher Lauren Sick, co-sponsor of Lincoln-Way North’s chapter of the Science National Honor Society.

The SNHS is an honorary organization founded to acknowledge the strong effort put forth by outstanding students studying the sciences, she added. Students are inducted based on the following criteria:

  • Must be classified as either a junior or senior at Lincoln-Way North
  • Must have and maintain a 3.0 grade point average overall
  • Must have and maintain a 3.5 grade point average across all science courses

“Every student being inducted into the Lincoln-Way North Science National Honor Society this evening has met and maintained (these qualifications),” said Sick.

Among those inducted into the Science National Honor Society on Wednesday were: Brooke Alba, Katherine Bakouris, Michelle Balcerzak, Heidi Basilio, Bo Beniac, Jamie Beniac, Kelsey Blank, Victor Bradley and Leann Buzzard.

Also inducted into the science honor society were: Taylor Caffrey, Jill Candos, Orlando Castaneda, Ryan Castrogiovanni, Mark Catania, Allyson Cubr, Bridget Curtin, Serene Darwish, Amy Dennis, Julianne Dennis and Taylor Driscoll.

Additional inductees included: Samantha Eng, David Fanciullacci, Matthew Filipiak, Erik Fjeldheim, Brody Gaffney, Courtney Gerk, Monique Grein, Brittany Gurtowski, Victoria Gutkin, Ian Haehnlein, Emily Hamm, Deirdre Harrington and Bryan Hipp.

Also inducted into the Science National Honor Society were: Sydney Johnston, Joshua Kemp, Nathan Kemp, Mallory Kowaleski, Kristin Lahr, Tatiana Lampley, Colleen Laughlin, Krista Lindgren, Megan MacDougall, Jessica Marquez and Kaitlyn Martin.

Inductees also included:  Andrew McInerney, Natassja Medez, Raymond Michuda, LeChae Mottley, Brian O’Donnell, Matthew Ostrowski, Nileema Patel, Anna Pelsi, Megan Pender, Olivia Perozzi, Joseph Romero and Gregory Ruzich.

Additional inductees included: Patrick Schlomas, Luke Schoenhofen, Erynn Schuh, Joseph Schuit, Emily Seyforth, William Shake, Kristin Shatkus, Sarah Sheehan, Matthew Smith, Kendal Sykes, Jenna Tasic, Jacob Thorns, Karlie Trost, Cody Van Etten, Bo Venezio, Lyndsay Vlosak, Luke Waldier, Madelyn Waleski, Victoria Zaplatosch and Carly Zimmerman.
