Armed Robbery Reported Dec. 2 In Frankfort Township: Sheriff

Two incidents — an armed robbery and a burglary — happened in Frankfort, with the thieves stealing items including an urn with ashes.

FRANKFORT, IL — The Will County Sheriff's Office recently shared police reports from Nov. 26 through Dec. 2 and reported two incidents, a burglary and an armed robbery, that happened in Frankfort.

The first incident happened Nov. 26 in the 19000 block of South Edinburgh Lane. Someone forced entry into two apartments and ransacked them. According to police reports, three masonic collars with crosses was stolen from one apartment, and a burial urn with ashes, jewelry and cash were stolen from the second apartment.

The second incident happened Dec. 1 at Shell, 7654 W. Lincoln Highway. According to police reports, deputies responded to an armed robbery call at 5:05 a.m. and spoke to an employee at the gas station. The employee told police he was in the back room when he saw two black men, both with a thin build, enter the store wearing ski masks, black hooded sweatshirts and black pants.

According to reports, one of the men jumped the counter and pointed a handgun at the employee while ordering him to the ground. The second man also jumped the counter and put cigarette cartons and packs into a large black bag. The men also stole $100 from the register.

The employee was struck on the side of the head during the incident, police reports state. The two men left in a four-door vehicle with tinted windows. Police said the incident is under investigation.

A similar incident also happened at the same gas station in October. Cigarettes and cash were also stolen during that armed robbery.
