Art Teacher wanted for children’s art class

Part Time/Contracted Position

Union Street Gallery in Chicago Heights, IL is looking for an instructor to teach an8 week art workshop series to children ages 6-12. The purpose of this workshop series is to offer quality art education to children from the community who often have little experience with art, and give them a chance to constructively express themselves. The workshops will focus on the basics of 2-D and 3-D media (no clay). Each class must function as a stand-alone workshop with mostly hands-on projects and tailored to the student’s skill level. This class will have no fee and is funded by a grant from Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, South Suburban Alumnae Chapter.

Class is held every Saturday February 28-April 18, 2013, 1-2:30pm. Some prep time and clean-up time required.

Requirements

Minimum 1 year prior experience teaching art to children under 15 years old

Art degree or background in art preferred

Must be comfortable working with and engaging children

Must have reliable transportation

Compensation

$360 total for 8 weeks, paid upon completion. Compensation includes class time, prep time and any clean-up time. No travel expenses included. Compensation is provided by grant funds and is not negotiable.
