ArtWorks 2020 Fine Art Festival Planned At Lincoln-Way East

FRANKFORT, IL — Students from 30 area schools, including all three Lincoln-Way high schools, will exhibit their musical and visual art talents at ArtWorks 2020, a fine arts festival sponsored by Lincoln-Way Community High School District 210 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, March 21 from at Lincoln-Way East High School, 201 Colorado Ave., Frankfort.

The district said visitors to ArtWorks 2020 will have an opportunity to view musical performances by musical groups, youth strings, and jazz combos; attend a variety of art demonstrations and hands-on workshops for all ages; and view an art exhibit of more than 900 art pieces by students ranging from kindergarten to high school.

Participating school districts are Lincoln-Way Community High School District 210, New Lenox School District 122, Frankfort School District 157C, Summit Hill School District 161, Mokena School District 159, and Manhattan School District 114, as well as Providence High School.

Professional artists from the community John Tylk and Ted Fuka will be on-hand to
answer questions and demonstrate various art techniques, the district said. The Frankfort Arts Association will also have representatives to talk about artistic opportunities in the community.

Admission to the festival is free and open to the public. Scheduled activities include:

11 a.m. – Scratch Art Drawing
11:30 a.m. – Marble Painting
12 p.m. – Tissue Paper Flowers
12:30 p.m. – Watercolor Resist
1 p.m. – Origami Activity
1:30 p.m. – Relief Printing
1:30 p.m. – Jewelry Copper Enameling

11 a.m. – Lincoln-Way Youth Strings Orchestra (auditorium)
12 p.m. – Lincoln-Way Youth Strings Chamber Ensemble (cafeteria)
12:15 p.m. – LWE Spring Musical Group (auditorium )
1 p.m. – Lincoln-Way East Jazz Combo (cafeteria)
