Bring Your Petered Out Pumpkins To Pumpkin Smash at Plum Creek
Don't trash your jack o' lanterns, take them to Plum Creek Nature Center on Nov. 4 and smash them so they can be composted.
Take your Halloween jack o' lanterns to Plum Creek Nature Center in Crete Township this year to smash them, bash them and save the earth!
The Forest Preserve District of Will County's Pumpkin Smash will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4.
Choose how your jack-o-lantern will meet its demise: pounded to a pulp, rolled into a heap or dropped over a railing. It’s going to be a smashing good time! Work up an appetite smashing your pumpkin then enjoy roasting marshmallows and hotdogs.

All pumpkins will be composted at Plum Creek Nature Center following the event. Registration is not required.
Pumpkin Smash is a regional event spearheaded by SCARCE to promote composting and wise use of resources. By composting your pumpkin, you are keeping waste out of landfills, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and creating a natural fertilizer for soils.
