The Buona Beef brand has expanded quickly over the last few years, but has been in business since Buonavolanto family patriarch Joe Sr. opened the first one in Berwyn in 1981. Buonavolanto was among a group of Italian immigrants who made the Italian Beef "a staple of Chicago's culinary scene," according to the announcement on the Frankfort opening.
The Frankfort location features a mix archetypal Chicago materials and modern design.
