Chicago Blu Shuts Doors for Final Time

The Chicago Blu Grill and Bar closed last week for the last time.

Chicago Blu Grill and Bar closed suddenly last weekend at 19917 S. La Grange Rd. in Frankfort.

The restaurant, which opened in 2006, was acquired by new owners Jay Rodriguez, Lisa Corona and Scott and Rachel Zdanek in August 2010.

The company posted this note about the closing on its Facebook page on Oct. 14:

"We regret to inform that we have given our final Last Call yesterday. Many thanks to our dedicated staff and to our loyal customers. It's been a wonderful experience."

A note on the front door and front window simply says, "Closed. Out of Business."

The website has been taken down and its phone number has been disconnected.

Attempts on Wednesday to reach the owners were unsuccessful.

Inland Real Estate, which owns the plaza where Chicago Blu was located, has been listing its site as coming available for several months.

Ken Bucyk, of Frankfort, said he was in Chicago Blu a week before it closed and there was no indication the grill was getting ready to close.

"I had heard it might be closing, so I asked the bartender, and he said it wasn't going to close. Then I stopped by late last week and it was closed."
