Chelsea Intermediate School "One Book/One School"

Entire school reads "The Giving Tree" at same time

Chelsea Intermediate School students recently spent a week participating in the “One Book/One School” program. All students and staff read the book “The Giving Tree” by author Shel Silverstein at the same time.

A number of programs were conducted relating to the book. Areas in the school were decorated and activities were provided that tied into the story in the book. In keeping with the “tree” theme, the school featured a trunk room, a tree room and a stump room. The children completed writing activities and each class illustrated a page in the book. Students told their teachers that they really felt like they were part of the story.

Shown: Chelsea Intermediate School students in the fourth grade class of Colleen Jozaitis enjoyed the “One Book/One School” program in the “tree” room.
