Chelsea Intermediate School Third Grade Biography Wax Museum

Students "come alive" as famous characters to tell about their lives

Chelsea third grade students recently participated in a Biography Wax Museum. Prior to the event, each student selected a famous person and read the “Who Is/Was” series book about that person. They then took the information they learned to create a two minute speech about the person they researched.
During the Biography Wax Museum, students dressed in costume to portray the person they studied and presented their speech to parents and their peers as their famous character.
As visitors entered the Wax Museum in the gymnasium the students, acting as the wax figures, had their heads down and were very still. Once a parent pushed their start button, each student raised their head and began to give their speech.
Some of the characters portrayed by the students included Helen Keller, Dr. Seuss, Ben Franklin, King Tut, Amelia Earhart, Abraham Lincoln, Anne Frank, Babe Ruth, Pablo Picasso, Christopher Columbus, Michelle Obama, Elvis Presley, Neil Armstrong, Martin Luther King, Jr., Muhammad Ali, Derek Jeter, Sacagawea, J.K. Rowling, Rosa Parks, George Washington, Albert Einstein, Queen Elizabeth, Elvis Presley and Clara Barton.
