Fundraiser for Judy Herder Memorial Pump Track

The Frankfort Park District authorized Operation Playground
Foundation to raise money for the purpose of purchasing a pumptrack to
be named in honor of Judy Herder. The first Operation Playground
Foundation fundraising event for the “Judy Herder Memorial Pumptrack”
will be a Craft Beer Tasting to be held on Saturday, October 21st from
3:00-6:30 pm at the Founders Community Center located at 140 Oak Street
in Frankfort, Illinois.

Judy Herder was a member of the Operation Playground Foundation board
for 17 years and was instrumental in developing numerous park projects
in Frankfort. John Herder said, “Judy would love this project. She
supported the idea of a track like this for years.”

The internationally award winning track is made of a composite
material and will wind around a 215 foot course. It is maintenance free
and because it’s not constructed of dirt, it's clean and aesthetically
pleasing. The course has modular pieces which will allow for it to be
reconfigured to change the course layout and pieces can be added to the
track to enlarge the course. The cost of the track is estimated to be
$53,000. Currently the Frankfort Park District is giving consideration
to putting the track at a District Park located close to Old Plank Trail
and would allow residents and trail users to enjoy the track. The track
will be used by kids and adults who enjoy biking, skateboarding,
rollerblading and scooters. It’s fun, safe and exciting! The track
creates a community environment by bridging the generation gap between
parents, small children and adolescents.
