D161 Approves Remote Learning Plan, Cancels Fall Sports
The first day of remote learning will be Aug. 31.
FRANKFORT, IL — At its Aug. 5 meeting, the Summit Hill District 161 Board of Education approved the remote learning plan for the beginning of the 2020-21 school year. According to board briefs from the district, the plan include 5 hours of instruction or engagement each day, with at least 2 and a half hours of synchronous, real-time instruction.
According to the board briefs, tablet/material pick-up days will be held Aug. 26-28. Schools will soon begin to survey families to see how many students will be online during the school day, and who will be online after the school day in the evenings.
"In terms of student support during mandated remote learning, students who may be missing live instruction would have access to activities and pre-recorded videos as would the students participating during school hours," board briefs state.
