This annual event captures the district’s community spirit and love for the many cultures that make up America. District 157-C parents and students will host and share their family cultures and traditions from their respective countries. As everyone celebrates together as a community, the children can learn from their peers and parents a sense of community and family spirit.

District 157-C students and their families will use a provided “passport” to visit various country stations that highlight the presenters’ ethnic backgrounds. The presenters may dress in their traditional country costumes while sharing stories, fun facts and information on significant holidays celebrated. This year’s family country participants will include Austria, Chile, France, Germany, Guatemala, India, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Pakistan, Palestine, Philippines, Poland, Puerto Rico, Sweden, Switzerland and Taiwan.

Skip cooking dinner at home and purchase delicious ethnic foods from food trucks parked on site where cash or credit will be accepted. During the event, there will be door prizes and raffles for lucky winners. The FSP Book Fair will also be open for an opportunity for families to purchase new books from a large selection.

Lincoln-Way East High School District 210 will be represented to promote foreign language in our high schools. The Frankfort community will be represented by Village of Frankfort officials, Chamber of Commerce and School Board Members. The Frankfort Public Library will have a station at the event to promote researching heritage and ancestry and the Junior ROTC will be collecting hand-written postcards for the troops.

The FSP Chairperson for this program is Kris McGuire with support from Hana Yassin, and Julie Kreyenbuehl. McGuire stated, “We are honored to work with the country participant families and dozens of student and parent volunteers to help make this program a continued success. This event is truly a gift to our families of Frankfort.” Questions? Please contact McGuire at kkmacfsp@yahoo.com.
